About the Role

Based at the Dalby Corporate Office, you will be responsible for assisting in enhancing and raising Council's image and public profile as well as increasing engagement with the community through creative and consistent public relations, communications and social media and digital strategies that promote Council services, achievements, events and the Western Downs region.

Reporting to the Communication & Marketing Manager, you will:

  • Present innovative ideas, provide advice and develop plans to help drive growth and increase user engagement and traffic on Council's social media and digital channels (including web and intranet);
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to develop communication plans as well as content for the successful promotion of Council projects, community engagement, services and operations;
  • Write concise, factual and timely media releases and editorial copy (internal and external) on Council news, and provide editorial and proofing support for a number of other Council publications;
  • Film, edit and package video and audio suitable for a range of platforms e.g. news broadcast, website and social media; and
  • Identify opportunities to apply new channels, processes and practices that enhance the quality and effectiveness of Council's communication and marketing efforts and outputs.

 

About you

The successful applicant will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field;
  • Exceptional people skills and demonstrated ability to effectively deal with a broad cross-section of Council stakeholders;
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills, excellent time management skills and the ability to work within tight deadlines and rapidly changing work priorities; and
  • Experience in using film and photography mediums, experience in using the Adobe Suite for graphic design and a high level computer and word processing skill (including Desktop Publishing and web content management);
