Senior Civil Works Coordinator

The position is based in picturesque Hughenden, the hub of the Mid North West, located approximately 390km west of Townsville on the banks of the Flinders River. With a community of 1,600 people, Hughenden has a lot to offer - health, shopping, education and sport facilities within walking distance, recreational lake, national parks, mountainous volcanic basalt country, sweeping black soil plains and a friendly country lifestyle.
The Position:
Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination and management of civil works teams and contracts to achieve the delivery of sustainable works and maintenance services for road, footpath, bridge and stormwater related assets.
Experience and Qualifications:
We are seeking an individual who is committed to sustaining the positive reputation of the Flinders Shire Council, with the ability to hit the ground running. Additionally, you must possess:
- Technical understanding of design specifications and plans and the ability to deliver large construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience in the programming of construction and maintenance works and proven effective resource planning and allocation.
- Experience with the preparation and implementation of traffic control plans, compliance with environmental standards and strong work, health, and safety knowledge.
- High level communication, leadership, and staff supervision capabilities to drive teams to achieve outcomes and manage performance, where required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and competency with surveying equipment, such as a dumpy level.
- Certificate IV in Civil Construction (or the equivalent), General Construction Induction Safety Card, ‘C’ class Driver Licence and knowledge of relevant plant and equipment.
The Benefits:
- Salary range: $105,000 - $120,000, plus superannuation
- Fully maintained vehicle for private and work purposes with a $6,000p.a personal contribution (salary sacrificed)

- 5-weeks annual leave and 9-day fortnight
