Team Leader – Towns, Parks, Drainage & Bridges



(Level 6 of Municipal Employees (Western Australia) interim Award 2011 and EBA negotiable to $35.69 per hour)


The Shire of Victoria Plains currently has a vacancy for a Team Leader – Towns, Parks, Drainage & Bridges, as a “hands-on” Team Leader.  The position will be based in Calingiri. Situated 153 kms north-east of Perth.  This position will assist in the safe and effective construction, upkeep and maintenance of the Shire of Victoria Plains’ towns and drainage infrastructure as directed by the Manager Works and Services. 


Experience required is as follows:

  • experience in road construction/maintenance or earthmoving environment, including an understanding of materials and operation of equipment used for road construction and maintenance works
  • experience in drainage construction and maintenance works programming.
  • experience in towns, parks and gardens works programming.
  • the ability to monitor productivity of labour and plant
  • the checking and ensuring the accuracy of timecards for towns and drainage staff
  • experience in the supervision of projects, contractors and works crews
  • assist in the development and monitoring of Works and Services best work practices and guidelines
  • have computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, Synergy
  • sound written communication skills,
  • have organisational administrative and time management skills,
  • have an understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations to ensure the safe operation of plant and equipment associated with construction activities, and
  • Local Government experience is highly desirable.


The position attracts generous superannuation benefits and wages at Level 6 of the Municipal Employees’ (Western Australia) Interim Award 2011 and the Shire’s Enterprise Agreement negotiable to $35.69 per hour
