Pits and Drains Operator



We are seeking a Pits and Drains Operator to join our Resource Recovery and Education team to assist in maintaining an adequate standard of cleanliness and operation within our pits and drains network.


This role is responsible for the safe operation in removing root/debris and other material from side entry pits, foot path pits, hi-flow pits, junction pits, storm water pipes and other pits on the urban drainage system and removing debris from drainage system entry and exit points in retention ponds. You will be required to report damage or required maintenance through the City’s works and inspections software system.


Other street cleaning duties that form part of the role include upkeep of public areas, bus shelters, weed removal and delivery and repairing garbage bins.


You will be a flexible team member willing to step into other roles as required including relief operator for garbage collection and suction street sweeper which will require a heavy rigid license for the operation of these vehicles.


This role requires the applicant to be physically fit and have the ability to work to a program. You will also have the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team, display good communication skills and promote a positive customer service oriented image of the City of Greater Bendigo. Completion of a satisfactory medical is required to undertake the position.
