About the Role

Based in Chinchilla, you will be responsible for ensuring Local Laws issues, regulatory parking, and Animal Management Services are dealt with in compliance with Government Legislation, Council corporate plan goals and industry best practice.

Reporting to the Local Laws Supervisor, you will:

  • be responsible for undertaking regulation and enforcement of Council's Local Laws (including Parking) and the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008, by undertaking enforcement action where appropriate, participating in coordinated enforcement campaigns and undertaking public place patrols;
  • manage and maintain animal impounding facilities, provide a high level of care for impounded animals, and to manage the custody and other arrangements for impounded animals; and
  • participate in an on-call roster, including some weekend work.

 

About you

The successful applicant will have:

  • a proven high level of advanced people management skills, including conflict resolution & conflict management, & experience dealing with difficult customers;
  • knowledge in animal management, handling techniques and welfare requirements;
  • a Certificate IV in Government (Statutory Compliance);
  • a current "C" Class drivers licence (manual);
  • a gun licence or willingness to obtain;
  • a reasonable level of physical fitness.
