Resource Recovery Education Officer

A fantastic opportunity exists for a suitably qualified and experienced Resource Recovery Educator to join our Waste Services business unit.

In accordance with the Waste Services Business Plan and Strategic Plan, you will prepare and implement a creative, innovative and effective waste management and resource recovery education program.

In this role you will have the opportunity to interact with the community through the school waste education program and community workshops and events. In addition to the regular programs you will lead the delivery of the Great Northern Clean Up, events for the National Recycling Week and other significant resource recovery events.

You will need to showcase your leadership and communication skills to build cooperative working relationships not only within the Waste Services team, but with other Council programs, clients and contractors and other key stakeholders towards the development, implementation and maintenance of deliverables for the program.

This role is being offered as a temporary part-time role for twelve (12) months, but with a potential opportunity for a longer arrangement after the first twelve (12) months.

 

Suitable applicants should possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Waste Management and/or Resource Recovery Education, Education, Environmental Science, Environmental Health or Communication from a recognised University or other tertiary education institution
  • Desirable to have twelve (12) months experience in a similar education role
  • Must hold a Working with Children Blue Card

 

Blue Card - It is an essential requirement for this position to hold a Working with Children Blue Card.  Under Queensland legislation, you must hold the Blue Card prior to commencing employment – No Card, No Start policy.  If you currently do not hold a Blue Card, we recommend you commence the application process when you apply for the position.
