It's an exciting time to be in Invercargill and a privilege to work in this region.

With around 1,000 visitors coming through the door each day Splash Palace is a busy place! At Splash Palace, we pride ourselves on creating a fun and safe environment for all of our customers.

We are looking for a like-minded enthusiastic and customer-focused individual to join our already fun, vibrant and dynamic management team!

The Duty Supervisor provides an essential link between management and poolside, ensuring our staff are equipped and enabled to provide a high standard of customer service and customer safety at all times.

Working closely with the Team Leader - Aquatic Operations, the Duty Supervisor oversees and supports Supervisors, Senior Lifeguards and Lifeguards to fulfil their day to day poolside duties to a high standard. This includes fortnightly rostering of staff (and covering planned and unexpected absences), oversight of pool supervision standards and practices, handling escalated customer enquiries or complaints, incident response and follow up, and enabling a high level of cleanliness and tidiness of the facility.

This role is also responsible maintaining the Lifeguard training programme, including the induction of new starters, ensuring refresher training is arranged and provided for all poolside staff to maintain current and up to date National Lifeguard and First Aid certificates. You will also develop the school holiday programmes in liaison with the Team Leader - Aquatic Operations.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • 2 to 3 years' experience in supervision within the Aquatics Industry;
  • Experience teaching others;
  • Experience with online rostering systems and software;
  • Great verbal and written communication skills; and
  • Competent computer skills and Microsoft Office suite.

Ideally, you will have a current First Aid certificate and a National Lifeguard (Level 3) award. A positive attitude and strong work ethic are essential, and a current Skills Active Assessor Qualification is desirable.

At Invercargill City Council we pride ourselves on our values - positivity, respect, responsibility and above and beyond. Finding the right fit for our team is really important to us and we work hard to provide an environment reflective of these values.

The Invercargill City Council is committed to the wellbeing and protection of children, the elderly and vulnerable adults. As a component of this role involves interaction with one or more of the above groups, as part of the assessment of candidates, we will require Police Vetting as per the Children's Act 2014 and a Pre-employment Alcohol and Drug Screening test to ensure we are providing a safe environment for our customers and members of the public.
