An opportunity has become available for a motivated individual to join a small and dynamic team as the Governance Officer within the Corporate Services Directorate. The Governance Officer will be responsible for managing the Council and Committee meeting framework, delivers a contemporary governance service including legislative, regulatory and policy compliance and review, and provides accurate and timely high-level support.

Our ideal applicant will have excellent time management skills, high attention to detail and have a proactive attitude. The Governance Officer reports to the Governance Advisor and will work on various functions including interpret and apply Acts and other legislation as required and provide advice to Elected Members, senior officers and employees. Our candidate will have a high level of writing and verbal communication skills, including assistance in policy and procedure writing and presentation skills.

 The preferred candidate will have previous experience in similar role or hold a relevant tertiary qualifications in governance, business, law or relevant discipline. The applicant will also be required to undergo a pre-employment medical drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • Tertiary Qualification in governance or relevant discipline, or extensive experience in a similar position
  • National Police Clearance
  • Current Drivers Licence
