Salary from $68,909.25 to $82,280.86 per annum + industry and tool allowances 

+ 9.5% superannuation + $1,000 pa transport allowance + Uniform Provided

76 hours per fortnight with a rostered day off

North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands, and a bustling CBD. We are seeking a Motor Mechanic who will be responsible for the inspection, servicing and repair of Council’s motorised plant.  Based at our Central Depot in Cammeray, you will work with our Fleet Manager to minimise vehicle and plant downtime.

You will be trade qualified with strong fault diagnosis skills gained from your work experience and you possess a Class MR Driver’s Licence.  As Council’s plant operate every day of the week, repairs may be required at any time – ideally you will have some flexibility regarding working hours including being available to be on call and with the ability to attend afterhours breakdowns.

Essential

• Trade qualifications as a motor mechanic or heavy plant mechanic
• Extensive experience within the vehicle or heavy plant maintenance industry
• Strong fault diagnosis skills
• General Construction Induction
• Class C Driver’s Licence
• Demonstrated understanding of WH&S requirements
• Demonstrated understanding of Confined Space Entry requirements
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team
• Strong customer service focus
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise and meet deadline
• Basic computer skills

Desirable

• Licensed to operate a fork-lift and loaders
• MR Driver’s Licence
• Relevant post trade certificates
• Current Confined Space Entry certification
