About the Role

Full time: 9 day fortnight

Salary: Range from $49,961 to $57,454 pa + 9.5% super

The primary purpose of the role is to provide a high level of service in the maintenance of public facilities, town centres, parks and recreational spaces in line with Council's delivery and operational plans.

This includes:

  • Maintaining Council's open space gardens in a clean, neat, tidy and attractive condition
  • Carrying out general parks and gardens vegetation and ground maintenance at Council assets
  • Providing leadership and mentoring to trainees or assistants 
  • Developing maintenance programs in conjunction with Coordinator and Overseer
  • Rejuvenating open spaces, parks, gardens and urban spaces prior to community events
  • Selection of appropriate species of plants, trees and shrubs and maintaining these to maturity

 

We are seeking someone who has:

  • Competent numeracy and literacy skills to enable understanding and application of safety and work related procedures
  • Certificate III in Horticulture
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar horticultural position
  • Competence in small plant operation and use of hand tools, including maintenance
  • Current Class C Driver Licence
  • Construction Induction Certificate (WHS White Card)
  • Approved Certificate for Chemical User Applications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to work health and safety equal employment opportunity and cultural diversity principles
  • Demonstrated conduct aligned with Council’s corporate behaviours supporting our values

NOTE: As the activities of this position could involve exposure to Hepatitis A and B or Q Fever, the employee will be vaccinated against these hazards or required to provide proof of immunity against these diseases.
