We are looking for an awesome Coordinator who will happily get out in the field, is a great coach for new staff and trainees and can guide the Environment and Regulatory team to continue to exceed expectations.  We want someone who can multi-skill across other areas of Council and provide support to the Manager Development and Environment.

About the Role

Full time: 19 day month

Salary: Range from $90,355 to $103,906 pa + 9.5% super

In this role you will ensure that land use and activities within the community meet the statutory requirements of the Protection of the Environment Operations Act, Food Act, Public Health Act, Local Government Act and Council's planning documentation and policies or other legislation applicable to the regulatory control of environment, health, waste management and animal control.

 

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

You will be:

  • knowledgeable in a large range of environmental health fields and able to undertake inspections in such areas as, but not limited to, food premises, liquid trade waste, skin penetration, public swimming pools, onsite sewage management, contaminated land, legionnaires, UPSS, illegal land use/compliance and ranger based activities
  • experienced in the Coordination of a diverse team e.g. Environmental Health Officers, Regulatory Rangers, compliance staff and Council pound employees
  • able to assess and provide advice/conditions for Development Applications in accordance with statutory provisions and Council policy/procedures
  • able to coordinate and oversee the issuing of all compliance & regulatory correspondence from the section such as notices, orders, development application conditions, advice and approvals

 

 We are looking for someone who has:

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental and/or health sciences and sound previous related experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the Environmental Health field
  • Exceptional leadership skills to lead, motivate and drive change
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring environmental parameters, especially related to water quality issues
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NSW Local Government and Environmental Legislation, Department of Environment & Conservation procedures
  • Construction Induction Certificate (WHS White Card)
  • Current Class C Driver Licence
  • Demonstrated conduct aligned with Council’s corporate behaviours supporting our values

NOTE: It s a requirement that the incumbent of this role completes a Disclosure of Interest Return as this role has been determined to be a designated person role.  ALSO

NOTE: 
As the activities of this position could involve exposure to Hepatitis A and B or Q Fever, the employee will be vaccinated against these hazards or required to provide proof of immunity against these diseases.
