Plant Operator (Maintenance Grader)



Applications are invited from experienced Maintenance Grader drivers to join our busy Works team. We are looking for an experienced hands-on applicant with excellent driving skills and a positive attitude. If you have the ability to operate a Grader in all situations as required by the supervisor in all aspects of maintenance grading of local Council and Department of Transport Main Roads (DTMR), to be able to carry out basic operating checks and daily maintenance this could be the opportunity to bring your skills to a dynamic shire and community.

We Require you have…

  • Certificate of Competency in Grader Operations
  • Current Construction Safety Induction Card (White Card)
  • Knowledge of Main Roads Standard and Techniques; and
  • Current Queensland 'C" Class Licence ("MC" Class Licence Desirable)


This position will be based in either Bedourie or Birdsville which are small but vital towns with fantastic modern facilities including 24/7 health services, schools, sporting facilities and twice weekly flights to/from Brisbane/Mt Isa.

A competitive remuneration package is offered ($62,920 to $95,206 depending on allowances and overtime), including above award wages and 6 weeks’ annual leave. A comfortable home is available in Bedourie or Birdsville at subsidised rent.

Councils works crews are currently operating on a 10/4 roster during which a reasonable amount of overtime is worked whilst they reside in their modern mobile camp accommodation.

This position is offered as a fulltime permanent position.
