- 9 day working fortnight (8.5hrs per day)
Horsham Rural City Council is a vibrant community situated in the heart of the Wimmera region of Victoria, approximately 300 kilometres north-west of Melbourne with a population of 19,880.
Horsham is the major provider of retail, community and government services in the Wimmera, with dryland and broad acre agriculture being our major industry. There are a range of quality educational and health care facilities including secondary colleges, a university and an agricultural college.
The region has excellent natural and cultural facilities including the Horsham Town Hall and Gallery, the Wimmera River, Mount Arapiles and the Grampians National Park.
Horsham is well-known for its extensive network of well-maintained parks, gardens and outdoor environments. It has a history of outstanding success in the Keep Victoria Beautiful Awards program.
We are looking for someone with experience and passion for gardening to provide gardening and plant operation support services to the Streetscapes Unit.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Ensure that landscaped areas and reserves are kept in a well-maintained condition in accordance with the schedule of works.
- Inspect, document, implement and monitor programs for the maintenance and renovation of garden beds in Council parks, reserves, central business district gardens beds and recreation areas.
Qualifications and experience include:
- Certificate in Horticulture or relevant experience
- Experience in the operation of minor to medium horticultural plant and equipment
