The City of South Perth (the City) is seeking applications from candidates to undertake the position of Civil Design Coordinator to join the Asset and Design Business Unit.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Assets & Design Team in achieving the City's operational objectives by coordinating the Civil Design Team to deliver the annual capital works program as well as the City’s major projects. 


To be successful in this position you need to demonstrate;

  • Considerable experience in the design and/or construction of roads, road preservation and resurfacing design, drainage systems and municipal infrastructure in an urban environment or in traffic engineering
  • Previous experience in preparing specifications, administering contracts and managing consultants
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software including but not limited to MS Word, Excel, Project, AutoCAD and GIS
  • Ability to control project and contract management documentation and audit processes
  • Ability to manage the performance of direct reports
  • Possess proven ability to conduct and manage civil & traffic design, traffic management and drainage design services
  • Well-developed time management, organisation, and administration skills
  • Well-developed analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of technical standards and specifications relating to road and drainage design such a MRWA, AustRoad, Australian Standards, and AR&R
  • Hold tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (minimum requirement for affiliate membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia) with substantial experience in civil design and traffic engineering in a local government environment
  • Hold a current “C-A” (Automatic) or “C-B” (Manual) class national driver’s license


This permanent position is a level 8/9 position that attracts a salary range of $91,317 - $107,569 gross pro rata per annum plus superannuation and limited private use of a City maintained vehicle.
