Bluff Pool Crew - Senior Lifeguard

Looking for work this summer holiday? Enjoy fun and fitness? Come and join us this 2020/2021 season!

Bluff Pool is one of New Zealand's most southern aquatic facilities and has a strong team approach to ensure the safety, wellbeing and fun of its visitors. Open from September to April, with people coming through the door for recreation and education, it can be a busy place!

We are looking for fixed-term Senior Lifeguards to join our dynamic Bluff Pool Crew team this season (approx. September - May). You will work poolside with our Supervisor to support our Lifeguards, supervising pool users ensuring their experience is a safe and enjoyable one. You will ensure the cleanliness and tidy presentation of the facility. You will also enjoy working in a team environment, be approachable, responsible, and reliable and have a positive ‘can-do' attitude.

Your leadership and high level of attention to detail is essential so that you never miss a beat. Stepping in to assist the Supervisor, you will assist with overseeing Lifeguards, ensuring they are supported to carry out their assigned duties to a satisfactory level, ensuring the safe and efficient running of the Pool.

You must be a competent swimmer and are able to maintain high standards of lifesaving techniques. Applicants will have a National Lifeguard Award (Level 3) and a current First Aid Certificate or the ability to obtain these within two weeks of commencing work.

If you value water safety, health and fitness and feel you could add significant value to our community facility, then apply now. You must be willing to work to a roster which will include split shifts, evenings, weekends and some public holidays (as rostered).

At Invercargill City Council we pride ourselves on our values - positivity, respect, responsibility and above and beyond. Finding the right fit for our team is really important to us and we work hard to provide an environment reflective of these values.

Invercargill City Council is committed to the wellbeing and protection of children, the elderly and vulnerable adults. As a component of this role involves interaction with one or more of the above groups, as part of the assessment of candidates, we will require Police Vetting and a Pre-employment Alcohol and Drug Screening to ensure we are providing a safe environment for our customers and members of the public.
