RID Investigator

  • Scheduled day off (every fortnight)
A rewarding opportunity has presented itself for a dedicated and driven individual to join our Regional Illegal Dumping team as a RID investigator

In this role you will specialise in combating and preventing illegal dumping and work closely with local councils including working across council boundaries to coordinate investigations of dumping regionally.

The position also provides education and encouragement to the community to reduce the incidence of illegal dumping, in accordance with Sydney RID Squad strategic work plans.

This opportunity will be offered on a Temporary full time basis up until June 2021

The salary range for this opportunity commences at $80,743 (Grade G, Step1) + 9.5% super

Your duties in this role will include:

  • Provide specific technical expertise in the investigation of illegal dumping and pollution incidents
  • Apply Work Health Safety procedures and risk assessments to ensure safety
  • Investigate illegal dumping's, collect evidence, interview witnesses, identify and interview offenders, undertake enforcement action by way of penalty notice or court attendance notice.
  • Prepare briefs of evidence to secure prosecutions
  • Attend Local Court and Land and Environment Court as the informant in defended matters
  • Create and complete RID online incidents of each investigation
  • Issue clean up notices, prevention notices and other statutory notices that are prosecutable
  • Conduct daily work plan patrols of identified member Council 'Hotspots' and record, investigate and report illegal dumping’s
  • Install, operate and monitor surveillance cameras and other equipment
  • Attend community events and expo's providing education to the community to report and reduce illegal dumping

You will have:

  • Qualifications in the area of law enforcement - Investigations
  • Current unrestricted NSW Class C drivers licence
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in law enforcement
  • Extensive experience in evidence gathering, statement taking, interviewing of persons of interest, brief preparation and giving evidence in Local and/or Land and Environment Court.
  • Experience in the application and use of the self-enforcing infringement notice scheme
