The Opportunity

Positioned within Council’s Community Strengthening department, this opportunity will see you responsible for the strategic oversight in the leadership of Council’s membership in the World Health Organisation’s Aged Friendly Cities and Communities Network, as well as components of relevant long-term Council action plans.

 

Responsibilities

  • Effective management of Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and Home and Community Care Program for Younger Persons (HACC PYP) services;
  • Ensure effective leadership and management in he provision of high-quality services and programs;
  • Lead and facilitate the development of policies, strategies and action plans for the Community Support unit;
  • Manage the Healthy Ageing Unit with regards to services, programs and events; and,
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external key stakeholders.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary or post-graduate qualification in Allied Health, Social Work, Community Services or related disciplines with extensive experience in the management of a diverse portfolio of services within the community services sector;
  • Substantial and diverse experience in Consumer directed care practices, and a demonstrated passion for working with vulnerable members of our community;
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, standards, and accreditation processes;
  • Demonstrated financial management experience and the ability to prepare and monitor budgets relevant to the Service Units; and,
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, manage performance and motivate a large multidisciplinary team to achieve goals and objectives.
