About the role

Council is seeking a Graduate Engineer for its Design Section, working within the Infrastructure Planning Branch.  The successful candidate will carry out engineering designs and drafting, project coordination, contract administration and related tasks under close supervision.  The Graduate Engineer will demonstrate initiative, have a can-do attitude and willingness to learn all aspects of the design of civil engineering projects, including the preparation of related documents for review and verification.  This position requires good literacy, numeracy, communication and interpersonal skills, and focus on the provision of quality customer service.

Skills and experience

**Please address the following key selection criteria items below, as part of your application**

  • Relevant experience with civil design, including surveying, drafting, project coordination and contract administration.
  • Sound experience in preparing civil engineering designs, including roadworks, water mains and drainage designs.
  • Proven ability in developing schedules as well as sound literacy and computer skills in software programs associated with civil engineering.
  • Ability to establish work priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively within a team environment.
  • Good communication focused on the provision of quality customer service, interpersonal and public relations skills.
