Team Leader Payroll

  • Band 7 $96,794 - $108,318 plus 9.5% Super
  • Full time, flexible working arrangements
  • Work from home and visits to the office on a needs basis (subject to change and as directed by DHHS and Council).

About the Organisation

The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more.  

About the Role

Coordinate the fortnightly payroll function for the City of Port Phillip, develop and implement process improvements, maintain a culture of high level customer service and build and lead a team to deliver all of this and more.  Relevant experience leading teams in a dynamic environment and delivering a payroll to 1000+ staff is a must.

Duties:

  • Supervise the daily activities of the team to successfully process an accurate fortnightly pay
  • Train and develop staff on an ongoing basis
  • Provide high level customer service across all levels of the organisation
  • Keep up to date on legislative changes impacting payroll
  • Develop and implement system improvements to improve payroll processes and efficiency

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience leading a team to deliver a payroll to 800+ employees
  • Extensive experience performing payroll processing
  • Proven experience implementing new awards and entitlements
  • Extensive award interpretation and allocation of different allowances
  • Understanding of all legislative requirements impacting the organisation and staff
