The Role

As the Coordinator Governance, reporting to the Manager of Corporate Services and Governance, role offers an excellent opportunity for you to advance Councils team in Governance and Risk. Displaying supervisory skills you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with legislative responsibilities, adequate insurance and appropriate level of Risk Management for Council assets and resources, maintenance of Risk and Governance registers, Coordination of responses to application to access information under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 and provide effective and efficient governance advice to the management team, the organisation and the public.

About you

The ideal candidate for this role will bring in a willingness to adapt to the needs of the position, have excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, work in a team situation and practice excellent supervisory skills.

You must have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in public policy or related field and/or relevant experience in a risk and/or governance role
  • Understanding relevant legislative provisions including the Local Government Act 1993, Local Government (General) Regulation 2005, State Records Act 1998, Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009, the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998, and the Civil Liabilities Act.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to build strong relationships and influence key stakeholders
  • Experience in coordinating an insurance portfolio and associated claims.
  • Demonstrated experience in interpretation and application of legislation and relevant industry standards
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and a high degree of initiative and flexibility
