The Opportunity

This exciting opportunity will see you coordinate and embed sound asset management principles and practices across Moonee Valley City Council whilst ensuring quality services in relation to the operation, maintenance and development of Council’s Geographic Information System (GIS) and Capital Works Program to ensure maximum annual delivery.

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the progress of the annual Capital Works Program including the coordination of performance monitoring and reporting on the delivery of the Capital Works Program;
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Project Management Framework;
  • Develop detailed draft short- and long-term Capital Works Programs;
  • Develop, implement, maintain and review Council’s Asset Management Policy and the Strategic Asset Management Plan;
  • Coordinate and embed sound asset management principles and practices across the organisation and implement systems and processes to ensure the long-term sustainability of the municipality;
  • Integrate asset management with service planning to ensure quality service provision and to collect and manage data to inform and facilitate responsible and prudent decision making; and
  • Promote the utilisation and coordination of the ongoing development and enhancement of the Asset Management Information System (AMIS), and the integrity of the asset data held in the system.

About You

This position would suit a strong leader with both the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in asset management and capital works planning and delivery within the Local Government context. You will understand and actively drive the engagement, support and management of people through the change journey and will be known and respected for your strong communication and engagement skills.

You will possess:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with extensive experience, or lesser formal qualification with extensive and diverse experience;
  • Demonstrated experience as a Project Manager developing business cases within a multidiscipline team;
  • Experience in a financial monitoring role and the capacity to undertake detailed financial assessment of applications within budgetary parameters;
  • High level of understanding of the workings of an Asset Management Information System (AMIS); and
  • A strong understanding of asset accounting.
