The Shire of Nillumbik is located 25 kilometres from Melbourne's CBD. The Shire covers an area of 430 square kilometres with the southern boundary of the Shire being the Yarra River, and the North-Eastern boundary extending to the Kinglake Ranges.

About the Role:
- Be a part of a dynamic and enthusiastic Recreation and Leisure Team
- Help shape and create Recreation and Open space opportunities across the Shire
- Develop and implement policy and processes
- Explore ways to pursue and receive funding to further enhance our recreation facilities
Duties:
- Closely liaise with Council's Capital works team to assist in project management and community engagement
- Work with community groups, committees, State Government departments, agencies and other Council departments to enable effective development and delivery of recreation and open space projects
- Develop policies, procedures and strategies to enhance our Recreational and Open Space areas
- Actively participate in the life cycle of grant opportunities
Skills and experience:
- Experience in developing and implementing open space and recreation planning and policy projects, or experience in related field
- Well-developed project management expertise including scoping, planning, managing stakeholders, problem-solving, time management, negotiations, budget management and reporting
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a range of individuals, recreation and community groups, residents, government organisations and funding bodies, including leading community engagement processes
- Well-developed conflict resolution and negotiation skills, when dealing with a wide range of government and community stakeholders, in a local government context
- Extensive experience in strategic planning and policy development
- Current drivers licence and willingness to drive
