Exhibition Host - He Waka Tuia

Two Vacancies - 18 months Fixed Term (part-time)

It's an exciting time to be in Invercargill and a privilege to work in this region.

You can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and endless recreational activities that Invercargill has to offer with Central Otago, Fiordland and the Catlins on our doorstep. As New Zealand's southernmost city we proudly encourage a good work-life balance and with direct flights to Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington the rest of the country is also within easy reach.

With a high level of confidence, our prosperous southern city is undergoing the biggest resurgence in its 166-year history. Invercargill's reputation for being family-friendly is well deserved, with affordable housing, great schools, and amazing facilities.

Would you like to be the smiling and friendly face that welcomes visitors to Southland's newest cultural attraction?

He Waka Tuia is an innovative and vibrant art and museum space developed in collaboration with the Invercargill Public Art Gallery and the Southland Museum and Art Gallery. We are looking for two ‘people persons' with experience in customer service and a love of Southland's arts, culture and heritage.

The Exhibition Host role will be the first point of contact for visitors to He Waka Tuia, and duties will include guiding our visitors, providing them with helpful information and directions, keeping them safe, and helping our small curatorial team with public programmes, events and exhibitions. You will be comfortable with interacting and understanding the needs of visitors from many different backgrounds, and knowledge of Te Reo Māori and tikanga would be an advantage.

We are looking for two 18 month fixed-term Exhibition Hosts, working part time hours. Some evening and public holiday work may also be required.

Exhibition Host 1 (approx. 31.5 hours per week)

Wednesday to Sunday - 10am - 5pm

Exhibition Host 2 (approx. 9 hours per week)

Saturday and Sunday - 12pm - 4pm
