We are a diverse HR team that reports directly to the Office of the CEO and has the remit to be a genuine partner and value add to the business. Due to an internal promotion we are now looking for an experienced HR Business Partner with strong generalist experience to join the team.

The Role

The main focus of the role is the provision of generalist HR support and advice to line leaders and employees across various directorates and departments. Key to success will be your ability to operate autonomously and communicate confidently at all levels as you build relationships with stakeholders.

Driving effective employee engagement is an essential component of the role, as is ensuring the right people are in the right place at the right time, particularly in Regional Australia where turnover can be higher. Your remit will also cover:

  • Implementing attraction and retention strategies
  • Interpretation of the Town’s EA and internal operating procedures
  • Delivering on the HR operational plan and working on HR projects
  • Supporting the end to end employee lifecycle
  • Providing employee relations advice in line with Fair Work Legislation
  • Roll out of a new HR system

This role will suit a collaborative professional, with excellent written and interpersonal communication skills who is adept at problem solving.  There will be plenty of opportunity to put your ideas into action and be pivotal in contributing to the people plans for the directorates you support.

Local government experience would be desirable but not essential.

Essential Work Related Requirements

Comprehensive experience in a similar HR business partnering role. A Degree qualification in HR, Industrial Relations or similar. 

The ability to gain a satisfactory National Police Clearance, complete a pre-employment medical, (including drug and alcohol assessment) and hold a current ‘C’ class Australian drivers Licence.
