Cobar is a rural mining community located in far western New South Wales. Our shire is one of the largest in the state, spanning over 44,000 square kilometres.

The Works Manager at Cobar Shire Council will have the responsibility for managing and delivering the construction and maintenance works program for state highways, regional and local roads (sealed and unsealed), town streets and urban drainage systems. 

Council is seeking to appoint an experienced, suitably qualified and technically capable Civil Engineer with competent leadership skills, a solid working knowledge of civil works pertaining to road maintenance and construction as well as strong communication and conflict resolution skills.

The Position

Reporting to the Director Engineering Services, our preferred candidate will have a ‘can-do, lead by example’ attitude modelling Council's values and expected behaviours; be proactive and adaptable to changing priorities; be excited about challenges; and passionate about meeting the needs of our community.

A total remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate, dependant on skills, experience and qualifications including an annual salary range of $105,000-$130,000 plus superannuation and may also include relocation assistance, subsided Council housing and leaseback vehicle.
