WANT TO CONTRIBUTE TO SOCIAL CHANGE IN AN INSPIRING REGION OF CENTRAL AUSTRALIA...

THEN APPLY TO JOIN OUR INNOVATIVE AND SUPPORTIVE MACKIDS MANAGEMENT TEAM IN ALICE SPRINGS.

We are seeking an experienced educational leader who is a resilient, resourceful, calm and caring team player to undertake the position of Children's Services Coordinator.

Our Early Learning programs were previously Budget Based Funded (BBF) and have now all transitioned over the past year to the Jobs for Families - Childcare Package.

As the coordinator, you will be working with up to 4 remote Indigenous Early Learning programs to provide a high level of leadership to both qualified and trainee educators in environments for children, birth to school age.

You will apply your knowledge of the National Quality Standards to drive the quality improvement process and guide educators and families. Our services are currently not required to undergo the assessment rating process through ACEQA.

The coordinator, in conjunction with the Manager Children's Services, will work collaboratively with educators, families and community members to deliver a high-quality and culturally strong program through the philosophy of MacDonnell Regional Council - Children's Services.

There is an expectation that regular overnight travel is a component of the position and each night away from Alice Springs attracts an additional tax-free allowance.

Being a Children's Services Coordinator within MacDonnell Regional Council can be really rewarding and provide you with experiences that you will always remember. It can be a great learning opportunity and bring you into a world which many Australians will never experience. A sense of humour and a sense of adventure are essential:

About the importance of our work

Children in our communities face many challenges. They are living and learning in a world with often competing Indigenous and Western views and values. By the time children commence school, many children in the Northern Territory are more developmentally vulnerable than other Australian children, and this is particularly the case for Indigenous children. However, despite the challenges, children in our communities are full of fun, creative and have enormous potential. They are part of rich cultural traditions and are usually eager to engage with whatever opportunities are open to them.

The MacDonnell Regional Council recognises the importance of investing in the early years and of providing warm and stimulating environments to help build strong foundations for lifelong learning, health, and well-being. As part of the Children's Services management team, you will be mentoring and teaching educators, strengthening the understandings of the EYLF, to provide opportunities for children to develop a love of learning through play.

You will support the development of high quality, culturally appropriate early childhood programs that are responsive to and meet the needs of all babies and young children, their families and remote Indigenous communities.

This position is offered on a full time fixed term basis through to 30 June 2023.

On offer is an attractive salary package commencing at $96,004.49 inclusive of superannuation and leave loading, plus additional benefits including 6 weeks annual leave, salary packaging options, professional development, and generous personal and cultural leave.

Applications will close on 1 March 2020
