Role Overview 

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and highly motivated Community Development Officer to join the Community Development Branch at Noosa Council.

The successful applicant will work with members of the community development team and the broader community to deliver a range of Council’s social initiatives, projects and activities.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Work cooperatively with, and provide support to the Community Development Manager to deliver social initiatives and projects.
  • Work with local community organisations, government departments and commercial operators to building strong effective partnerships.
  • Create and maintain local networks by engaging with the community in meaningful dialogue and facilitate the administration and progress of any relevant working parties/committees.
  • Manage and coordinate community events, projects and activities in line with the Noosa Social Strategy, to ensure their effective planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Actively participate in social research and ensure appropriate consultation, participation and feedback to the community in the development of policies and strategies related to community, sport, art and cultural initiatives.
  • Provide advice and assistance to organisations and individuals in accessing services and grants programs offered by Council and external agencies.
  • Contribute to the provision of reports and recommendations for Council’s consideration on relevant community, sport, art and cultural issues.
  • Provide advice on community infrastructure and associated tenure arrangements in liaison with relevant council officers.
  • Work with the community development manager to research, identify and apply for external grant opportunities for Council for improved outcomes.
  • Work as part of the community development team to assist the recovery from a disaster event.
  • Such other relevant duties as required from time to time which would generally fall within the scope of this position.

Applicants need to possess the following: 

  • Degree/Diploma qualifications in Community Development, Social Sciences, Business Management, Health Promotion or proven substantial experience in delivering community outcomes.
  • Possession of a Commission for Children Positive Notice Blue Card.
  • Driver’s Licence – “C” class.
