The Major Programs and Projects Office (MPPO) is a business unit within the Corporate Governance and Infrastructure Division and is a specialist centre of knowledge and expertise for the delivery of programs and projects. MPPO is a results-driven organisation responsible for planning, managing, delivering and supporting programs and projects on behalf of the department’s business units and statutory entities within the Justice and Regulation portfolio.
MPPO has significant capability and expertise in this area, and is currently responsible for the delivery of a range of strategic programs and projects, including major procurements, core technology and business systems, and organisational changes. One of MPPO’s key responsibilities is to manage an Enterprise Project Management Office (ePMO) function for the department.
About the role
The Senior Project Manager’s primary responsibility is to ensure the successful delivery of assigned projects which may include the procurement of high value goods and/or services. The position will define the project’s strategic direction and plans, and effectively manage and lead the project team, resources, stakeholders and suppliers. Projects will be delivered with the required products and within the constraints of quality, time and cost. On a day-to-day basis, the Senior Project Manager will report to the project governance bodies, with an overall reporting line to the Assistant Director, Project Delivery.
Two 12 month positions are available based at 7/121 Exhibition St, Melbourne.
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
- proven track record in managing and leading projects across a variety of public sector areas, preferably including: procurement, organisational change (Machinery of Government), and information and communication technology
- experience in applying structured project management methods, with a preference for PRINCE2
- knowledge of the Victorian Government (or similar) Gateway Review process.
A relevant project management qualification, such as PRINCE2 certification or equivalent experience, are desirable.
