The Built Environment and Business Sustainability (BEBS) business unit is responsible for the department’s management of assets, accommodation planning, capital project delivery, fleet management, archives, mail and environmental issues.
About the role
As the Senior Project Manager, you will be a member of both the Capital Projects and senior management team, with a key responsibility to manage allocated projects in the complex corrections sector. You will manage the operational contractual requirements of allocated projects and address compliance and governance issues that may arise. You will provide input, strategic advice and support in the successful delivery of the strategic vision of BEBS.
In addition, your focus will be to:
- procure the best outcomes (in terms of value for money) from new infrastructure development, through competitive processes involving the private sector
- resolve complex and sensitive issues and problems with wide impact involving a number of stakeholders needing integrated solutions
- negotiate and liaise with senior managers, external government agencies and service providers on a range of complex program development and delivery issues.
There are two positions available (one ongoing and one fixed-term until 31 December 2019), based at 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne.
As our ideal candidate, you will have demonstrated and extensive experience in project management and program implementation (preferably in the construction of institutional facilities). You will have excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to identify, build and maintain short and long term networks useful to achieving business objectives. Excellent communication and problem solving skills are essential.
A relevant qualification in project management, architecture, engineering or equivalent experience with project delivery in a construction environment would be desirable.
