The Shire of Broome is located in the south-west Kimberley in the far north of Western Australia and covers approximately 56,000 square kilometres, boasting a coastline of 900 kilometres and Broome is recognized as a historically multicultural town.
The Shire of Broome Council is seeking an outstanding leader who is able to use innovative approaches in working with diverse communities to deliver strong social and economic growth outcomes including encouraging local employment. This varied and rewarding leadership role will manage Council’s operations and have overall responsibility for leading a dynamic team.
The successful candidate will understand the interplay of social, political and economic imperatives, thrive in complexity and be driven to explore and capitalise on opportunities for improving the Shire’s services. They will demonstrate impeccable business and political acumen and be able to confidently navigate sensitive and contentious issues.
The position is offered under a performance based contract up to five years. An attractive remuneration package is offered and is to be set in accordance with the Salaries and Allowances Tribunal Band 2, negotiable up to $316,586 per annum. Salary and benefits are subject to negotiation and could include, but are not limited to; base salary, superannuation, utilities in addition private use of a vehicle, shire housing, professional development and a regional allowance of $25,000 per annum is offered. Reasonable relocation expenses are available.
