Social and Community Planner

We are seeking a suitably qualified, enthusiastic team player to join Baw Baw Shire Council’s Strategic and Community Planning Team.

As a member of the team you will be responsible for:

  • Facilitating the Baw Baw Health and Wellbeing Plan 2017.
  • Identify and understand the community development and wellbeing challenges in Baw Baw. 
  • To support the effectiveness and efficiency of Baw Baw Shire’s community services by providing up-to-date research and analysis.
  • Ensure community planning is informed and influenced through analysis of policy direction and service evaluation data.
  • Help determine the current and future needs, demands, expectations and aspirations of the community and the impacts as they relate to planning and service delivery.
  • Develop and nurture partnership that foster quality of life and vibrant communities both at the community, agency and strategic levels.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification and experience in an appropriate discipline (community development, community leadership, social or strategic planning), preferably in local government.
  • Experience with the delivery, and/or operation of community development related services.
  • Excellent communication skills and a flexible facilitative approach problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution. Experience in contributing to the identification and coordination of strategies, policies and plans that respond to the identified community development and wellbeing challenges.
  • Skills and experience in partnership development, both at the community, agency and strategic levels.
  • Experience in researching, identifying and analysing data and preparing reports and recommendations for consideration.

This is a full- time permanent position offered at a Band 6 and based in Drouin.  A current driver's licence is essential.
