South Gippsland Shire Council is a large rural Local Government authority, located approximately 100 kilometers from the centre of Melbourne. With an inspirational new CEO focused on innovation and transformation, it's the ideal time to consider joining the leadership team at South Gippsland Shire Council. There is currently an opportunity for an experienced Manager Financial Strategy to join the organisation.


Reporting to the Director Performance and Innovation, the Manager Financial Strategy will play a pivotal role in leading the finance function through a significant period of system and process transformation. As a key member of the Performance and Innovation team, you will be responsible for the Finance, Rates and Valuations functions, including operating as Council's Principal Accounting Officer. Leading a team of capable and passionate employees, your key tasks will include the Annual Financial Report, Annual Budget, Long Term Financial Strategies, Ratings Strategies and annual valuations.


As a high-performing finance leader with proven experience in a management role, you will bring demonstrated capability to develop strategies and policies, and streamline processes. You will be adept at working effectively across the organisation, partnering with stakeholders with varying levels of financial acumen to provide extra value. As a proven people- leader with either CA or CPA qualifications, you will have worked in large, complex organisations and bring project management capability and an ability to lead new thinking and practice within the finance portfolio. Experience in Local Government or aligned public sector organisations is a requirement, and a strong knowledge of the complexities of financial reporting, rating and valuations is an advantage. Your commitment to customer service, superior stakeholder engagement ability, and inspiring leadership style will set you up to tackle this challenging and rewarding Manager Financial Strategy role.
