Communication Officer



Primary Work Location: Gosford NSW

  • Provide advice on high profile communication and PR initiatives
  • Write all forms of communications content including social media 
  • 1 x full time - permanent position and 1 x part time 21 hours per week - temporary term contract position for up to 19 months 
  • Work/Life Balance - full time position offers a 9 day fortnight

Central Coast Council's (CCC) Communication and Engagement team play a key role in managing a broad range of complex communication and PR activities to strengthen Council's relationship with the community.

This role interfaces with a diverse range of internal stakeholders, providing expertise, advice and guidance to deliver best practice communications which align with Council's strategic direction.

Council will also be creating an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other permanent or temporary Communication Officer vacancies.

Key activities of this role include:

  • Support the delivery of sustained public relations campaigns to meet objectives & deadlines and within allocated resources and evaluate their effectiveness;
  • Provide specialist advice to stakeholders on all communication issues affecting CCC;
  • Plan and implement annual communication campaigns, including the coordination of one or more communication channels whilst working within a reputation management framework;
  • Effectively monitor the views of the local community and other stakeholders, evaluate communication activities and provide feedback to CCC, whilst actively encouraging community interest in CCC issues. 

About You:

  • You hold a Degree in Communications, Media or Marketing, or can demonstrate solid contemporary experience in similar roles with professional development along the way;
  • Your extensive experience in Media Relations, PR or Corporate Communications will be rounded out with experience in a complex political environment; 
  • You have excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills;
  • You bring a highly organised approach to project/campaign management and an excellent ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload;  
  • You enjoy sharing your knowledge and expertise, while also learning from others;
  • Having a work/life balance is important to you.

This role provides a salary range of between $75.1k to $90.1k per annum + superannuation.

A 9 day fortnight work-cycle currently applies to full time roles. This arrangement may be subject to change.
