Manager Planning, Building & Health



An opportunity exists for an experienced and professional person to join Council in the position of Manager Planning, Building & Health.

The primary purpose of the position is to:

Provide strategic leadership, technical expertise, customer service, operational management and regulatory compliance and enforcement in respect of:
  • Strategic and Statutory Land use Planning, including ‘placemaking’,
  • Development Assessment,
  • Building Certification,
  • Public Health, and
  • Public Amenity and Public Safety

Leeton is a thriving community in the Western Riverina, being the birthplace of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area and home to a significant manufacturing sector, excellent schools and a diverse array of sports, cultural and recreational opportunities.

The successful applicant will have a strong working knowledge of legislative frameworks related to planning, building, public health, public safety and public amenity and how these are best applied in a local council context. They will also have excellent interpersonal skills with the general public and fellow employees.

A relevant degree in building, planning or related discipline with a minimum of 5-10 years in a management role is essential together with a class ‘C’ driving licence.

Salary and Conditions: Depending on qualifications and experience, a salary of between $94,889 to $106,277 per annum will be offered plus 9.5% superannuation and a leaseback vehicle (package negotiable). The position is 35 hours per week with a monthly rostered day off.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award. Prior to commencement the successful applicant will be required to undergo Drug and Alcohol screening, Criminal History Check and a Medical Assessment.
