Chief Executive Officer



The Mayor and Council of the Whitsunday Regional Council are seeking a Chief Executive to lead the organisation and engage, inspire and empower team performance.


The Chief Executive will deliver the vision and strategy of the Mayor and councillors, direct operational efficiencies and encourage a strong culture within a customer focused organisation.


Council is seeking an organisational leader with sound experience in:

  • Developing organisational goals, priorities and direction utilising integrated business planning and reporting tools.
  • Overseeing financial, budgetary and organisational governance requirements.
  • Advising and influencing decisions, maximising opportunities and minimising risk in line with the organisation's strategies and plans.


Experience and previous success in a senior executive role is essential and candidates who have worked within a local government organisation will be highly regarded.


Council employs approximately 400 staff and has a current year budget of $180M. The council serves a community of 35,500 people in the major centres of Bowen, Proserpine, Cannonvale, Collinsville and Airlie Beach.
