The Contracts Officer position is required to contribute to the operational success of the Mackay Regional Council through the effective control of Council’s tendering and contract management functions, providing advice to clients as required in appropriate tendering documentation and process and ensuring appropriate risk management strategies are in place, reporting to Council as required and ensuring compliance with Council’s Procurement Policy and Tender and Contracts Manual.

The successful applicant will have the following experience, knowledge and skills:

• Well-developed interpersonal, organisational, negotiation and consultation skills
• Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel
• Sound knowledge of tender and contract documentation
• Knowledge of contract law and contract administration
• Applicants with experience in Local Government/Construction Industry Procurement and/or contract administration would be highly regarded
