Local Laws Officer Trainee

(12-24 months)



Council is seeking applications to fill the Temporary (12 – 24 months) Full-Time position of Local Laws Officer Trainee.  Applications will be received until Friday, 6 March 2020. Late applications may not be considered.


The Position

Council is seeking the services of an enthusiastic and energetic person to fill the position of Temporary Full Time Local  Laws Officer Trainee. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing skills and gaining experience in the field of local laws and Local Government regulations pertaining to Longreach Regional Councils Local Laws and other relevant legislation. This position is required to undertake a suitable Certificate in the Local Laws field, over the course of 12-24 months. At the completion of a suitable Certificate and a minimum of 12 months, this position may be offered a permanent full time position of Local Laws Officer.


Qualifications and Experience

The successful applicant will in possession of a current C Class drivers licence, Construction Industry White Card and  have experience in rural activities, handling herbicides and pesticides, and handling and keeping of domestic animals and stock. Experience in the safe operation of tools and equipment associated with the position. Applicants will have sound computer skills, good communication skills and an ability to complete a relevant certificate in the local laws field.


Salary and Conditions

This is a full time traineeship and is for a period of 12 – 24 months. Wages will be in accordance with the Training Award, based on age and educational qualifications. This position will receive 5 weeks annual leave including leave loading of 17.5%, 15 days sick leave, 9 day fortnight Rostered-Day-Off system, salary sacrifice options, ongoing training and professional development and superannuation of up to 12% of salary is also available upon commencement.
