The Whitsunday Regional Council is situated at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef.  The region encompasses the 74 tropical Whitsunday Islands, the coastal towns of Cannonvale, Airlie Beach, Jubilee Pocket, Shute Harbour and Bowen along with the rural towns of Proserpine and Collinsville.  The Whitsunday region offers a dynamic environment and is perfectly placed to live, work, play and invest.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Internal Auditor.  Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer we are looking for an experienced individual who will be responsible for researching, scoping, planning, conducting and reporting on reviews and audits of Council's internal operational systems and processes to provide assurances to Council, (through the Audit and Risk Committee), Chief Executive Officer and Senior Management.

As the Internal Auditor you will:

• Contribute value to the organisation through a proactive focus on the identification and communication of continuous improvement opportunities.
• Contribute to ongoing organisational development and transformational change by providing high level analysis and interpretation of the key business drivers and developing models that create cost, quality and/or operational efficiencies and facilitate improved outcomes.
• Underake auditing in accordance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Audits.
• Give consideration and guidance to the efficiency, effectiveness, economy and ethics of business activities.
• Deliver high quality, innovative, independent and objective internal audit services and advice.

With the necessary experience and qualifications you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high attention to detail and accuracy.  You will be an excellent team contributor and motivated to complete tasks on time.

Essential

• C Class Drivers Licence
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of appropriate internal control / audit administrative concepts and practices and procedures
• High level of knowledge and experience of financial, commercial, accounting, business analysis and project management 

Desirable

• Bachelor of Business/Commerce/Accounting (or other relevant field)
• Experience in Local Government
