Role Overview 

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a skilled and highly motivated Financial Systems Analyst to join the Financial Services Branch at Noosa Council.

This position will monitor, investigate and analyse the structure, configuration, processes and data associated with Council’s financial systems to maximise financial integrity and control.

The successful applicant will provide finance related support and guidance relating to the implementation of and maintenance and enhancements to Council’s financial software applications.

Further the incumbent will provide accurate and timely financial information and advice to support the organisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and monitor financial functionality associated with Council’s software applications and systems to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data and information.

  • Provide oversight on user access to the Technology one core enterprise suite to ensure controls are maintained and risks are mitigated in accordance with policy.

  • Active involvement in the implementation of software applications including configuration, compliance, testing of new software releases, and identifying and solving software and process problems of a financial nature in order to maximise system benefits and opportunities.

  • Identify, interpret and document financial system innovation and improvement opportunities (through one-on-one interviews with internal customers, liaison with other local government authorities and software providers as well as undertaking gap analysis or business process review, etc.).

  • Provide effective advice and assistance in the development of Council’s suite of financial e-forms and reports, including maintenance of data warehouses/ tables as well as add-on or custom reporting tools (Business Intelligence, ExcelOne, etc.).

  • Advocate for the continuous improvement of financial functionality of software applications and systems by providing input into the ICT roadmap as required.

  • Resolve financial system related ICT helpdesk requests.

  • Development of procedures, training manuals, guidelines, process mapping and other documentation that supports the operation and integrity of the finance system.

  • Provide effective advice, training and coaching to staff in the use of finance related functionality associated with Council software applications and systems.

  • Such other relevant duties as required from time to time which would generally fall within the scope of this position.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS  

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Proven ability to successfully implement, maintain and monitor large corporate financial software applications (e.g. Technology One enterprise system).

  • Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes.

  • Highly developed skills in data warehousing and developing custom or add-on reporting tools (e.g. ExcelOne, Business Intelligence).

  • Extensive knowledge of financial system controls as well as mitigating fraud and other risks.

  • Well-developed interpersonal communication skills for delivering systems presentations, workshops, coaching and training to staff (from both a technical and non-technical background).

  • A demonstrated focus towards continuous improvement, with the ability to test the status quo and maximise digital opportunities.

Essential Qualifications, Training and Licences

  • Degree in Information Technology and/or Business.

  • Driver’s Licence – “C” class

Desirable Qualifications, Training and Licences

  • Qualifications in project management.
