Reporting to the Crew Leader this role will see you managing daily tasks associated with vegetation management, maintenance and development works and tractor driving as needed. This assists in the improvement and construction of sporting facilities, reserves and coastal areas and leave these areas looking well maintained and ready for use by the community.
Our ideal candidate will be a person who enjoys the outdoors and using their skills in maintenance to enhance public areas. They will have a great work ethic and enjoy team work, but have the ability to work autonomously and meet targets.
Council will also be creating an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other Trades Assistant vacancies in the Environment and Planning area.
Key activities of this role include:
Carry out various vegetation management activities within sporting facilities, roadsides, parks and reserves and coastal areas to the required standards under the direction of the relevant Crew Leader;
Carry out improvement and new construction works as required;
Ensure that ovals, playing fields, waterways and beaches and reserves are left in a clean and safe state on a daily basis to minimise risk of harm to the public;
Operate vehicles with a trailer and tractor and associated attachments in a safe and responsible manner.
Essential Criteria:
Class C Driver’s Licence;
Construction Induction Certificate (White Card);
Extensive experience in coast areas, beaches and waterways maintenance duties or in parks maintenance and sports facilities;
Experience using hand tools and items of minor plant;
Working in a team environment and providing quality customer service to the public.

These roles provide a salary range of between $959.12 to $1,151.02 per week ($50k to $60k per annum) + superannuation + $16.20 weekly allowance.
A 9 day fortnight work-cycle currently applies to this role. This arrangement may be subject to change.
