The City of Ballarat, 100km west of Melbourne’s CBD is the third largest city in Victoria and one of the fastest growing Councils in regional Australia. We are seeking to fill a position for a Plant Operator with the Infrastructure and Environment construction unit at the City of Ballarat. 


This position is responsible for the supervision of a team on assigned work, and to take responsibility for the successful performance of the work, in terms of time, quality and cost.  


To be successful in this role you will have thorough understanding of technology, works and practices involved in the conduct of Civil Engineering projects. 


Your responsibilities will include conducting work in accordance to requirements of a works program, contract documents, and to quality and standard specified by the Team Leader of Construction.   


Be able to plan works and contribute to the estimating and job control procedures.  Provide support and guidance to the team and ensure the safe operation of all equipment and machinery. 


Key Selection Criteria 

  • Proven ability to manage day-to-day construction and maintenance activities.  

  • A demonstrated understanding and knowledge of municipal engineering works and practices.  

  • A demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team and to deliver work on time and on budget.  

  • A minimum of five years’ experience as a plant operator, certificated or trade qualified person in the Civil Engineering field, private enterprise engineering contracting in a similar field, or for a comparable government organisation.  

  • A Victorian Driver's License.
