About the Role

In the role of Senior Project Manager Construction, you will project manage the delivery of multiple civil infrastructure projects through the provision of technical expertise, project management experience, and the administration of contracts relating to the design, construction, and maintenance of infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring Central Highlands Regional Council’s processes, policies, procedures, and systems are followed and provide guidance on their implementation and improvement. In doing this you will ensure effective coordination of key activities and resources associated with the delivery of multiple projects.


Responsibilities of the Role

  • Project Management. Direct and manage project management principles and methodology to manage multiple projects and achieve project outcomes. Apply relevant knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to infrastructure activities, at varying levels of complexity, to meet project requirements.
  • Engineering. Applies engineering expertise to develop solutions that meet client requirements and guides others.
  • Road Construction and Maintenance. Applies a comprehensive knowledge and experience of road construction and/or maintenance practices and principles to road construction and/or maintenance, contributing to continuous improvement of these processes and practices.
  • Manages internal and external relationship. Builds and maintains productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Models open communication. Actively and attentively listens to others. Understand different and competing views and synthesises stakeholder information to inform approach.
  • People Management. Lead, motivate, develop and support reporting staff to deliver service excellence.

Additionally, this position may be required to conduct other duties as lawfully directed by the reporting manager.


Selection Criteria

To be considered for this position you must respond to each dot point below (1-2 page document). Please ensure each selection criteria is clearly labelled.

  1. Experience in civil construction project management, including construction of roads, bridges, and other drainage structures in both urban and rural environments
  2. Demonstrated experience in the development and/or implementation of quality assurance/quality control systems
  3. Experience in the development and/or implementation of contract management/administration systems
  4. Ability to read, understand, communicate, explain, and enforce the contents of engineering drawings and specifications
  5. Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor and guide team members to achieve optimum outcomes.
  6. Minimum of Queensland C class provisional drivers licence
