About the opportunity
Take advantage of this rare opportunity to demonstrate your abilities as a genuine innovator, you could contribute to the future of Blacktown as you carry out a range of planning duties as a Strategic Planner. Blacktown is experiencing unprecedented growth, as a dynamic planner you will have a genuine interest in creating and enacting strategic plans, developing policies, environmental planning instruments and development control plans to guide and control future development. You will be required to project manage various tasks as a team member or as an individual.
You will need to hold a Town Planning qualification recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia and have relevant experience in strategic planning in local government. Your experience in the preparation of planning proposals and development control plans, the briefing and coordination of consultants and the development and preparation of policies are essential attributes.
Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in town planning or equivalent that is recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA)
- Demonstrated experience in the planning industry
- Well-developed written, oral and presentation communication skills
- Demonstrated skills in negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution to enable effective liaison with people at all levels
- Project management skills in order to deliver projects on time and to a high standard
- Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
- Demonstrated commitment to a customer service culture and delivery of quality service
- Conduct that demonstrates to others Council's commitment to teamwork, customer focused, innovation and commitment to safety
- Current class C drivers licence.
Desirable:
- Strategic planning experience
- Urban design experience
- Master planning experience.
Remuneration and benefits The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
