Manager Building Construction and Maintenance



We are seeking a Manager to join our award winning Building Construction and Maintenance team and play a vital role in supporting our local community through working on buildings and facilities. You will be overseeing the work of over 100 staff in building trade crews, Day Labour workforce, security and cleaning services. You will also be responsible for annual operational policies and budgets, advising the Director and Chief Executive Officer on performance and current and upcoming issues, representing Council on relevant committees/boards, and designing and constructing minor works of up to $4 million. You will also be heavily involved in the processes of City Projects and complying with statutory and legal requirements.


You must have relevant tertiary qualifications with extensive relevant experience, Driver’s Licence, the ability to implement plans for development, sound business acumen, knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations and in procurement and governance, and skills in meeting deadlines with competing priorities and in negotiation and inter-personal communication. A detailed understanding of local government accountability and legislation and availability to work flexible hours would be advantageous.


There will also be alcohol, drug and random testing during the pre-employment phase.
