About the Role
Noosa Community Support (NCS) provides respite care, in-home care, transport, maintenance services and more to the frail aged and people with a disability within the Noosa region. Featuring a modern respite centre and administration base in the parkland surrounds of Wallace Park in Noosaville, NCS is well-known and highly valued by the local community.
As a Community Care Assistant the successful applicant will have the opportunity to become part of a passionate team that provides community support services to our valued community members. This diverse role is part of delivering Commonwealth Home Support (CHSP) and Home Assist Secure programs to eligible Noosa Community Support consumers, which helps improve/ maintain their quality of life and enables them to continue living in the community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide the following wellness and reablement services to eligible consumers in their home or at the Noosaville Community Support centre as directed:
- Respite care;
- Social support - individual;
- Personal care;
- Domestic assistance;
- Social support group activities;
- Allied health therapies.
- Assist consumers to enable them to participate in activities and programs and attend to their personal care needs as per the consumer’s support plan.
- Provide high quality support services to maximise consumer’s independence at home and in the community.
- Assist with the development and assessment of consumer programs and activities as per the commonwealth home support programme guidelines and the consumer’s support plan.
- Assist with kitchen, food handling, preparation and cleaning duties in the Centre as required.
- Drive the Noosa Community Support bus as required.
- Document and report on the progress of consumers including reporting any changes in consumers care needs.
- Report to the appropriate supervisor any hazards, incidents or accidents.
- Such other relevant duties as required from time to time which would generally fall within the scope of this position.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Exceptional customer service skills, a positive attitude and a commitment to providing the best care for our consumers.
- Demonstrated experience working in aged care programs and activities.
- Knowledge and understanding of Aged Care Quality Standards.
- A sound knowledge of assisted technology that impact on frail aged consumers, consumers with dementia and/or a disability.
- Full understanding of safety issues that may impact on our consumers and the delivery of services.
- A sound knowledge of support services available to frail aged consumers, consumers with dementia and/or a disability.
- Comfortable using technology including smart phones, email, updating consumer’s electronic records and using the internet as an online resource to assist with your work.
- Must be prepared to drive Noosa Community Support 12 seater buses within the scope of a “C Class” Open licence.
- Possession of a roadworthy vehicle with comprehensive vehicle insurance. Staff member will be required to use their own vehicle to service In Home Care clients. Travel time and mileage will be reimbursed.
- Possession of a reliable mobile phone.
Essential Qualifications, Training and Licences
- Certificate III in Aged Care or Individual Support (Ageing).
- Current Open Drivers Licence.
- Current National Police Certificate.
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate.
Desirable Qualifications, Training and Licences
- Drivers Licence - Light Rigid “LR”.
