About the Opportunity

Cobar Shire Council, now has an exciting leadership opportunity for a Director of Nursing to join their team. This is a full-time position based in Cobar, overseeing the Lilliane Brady Village aged care facility. There is an opportunity for the right candidate to start on a part time basis before moving to a full-time position.


Reporting to the Director of Finance and Community Services, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of the aged care facilities (two RAC services) at the Lilliane Brady Village in accordance with the organisation’s mission and philosophy.


Cobar Shire Council is looking for a driven and dynamic leader with a passion to guide the organisation through a period of change. This will include mentoring and supporting staff to provide the highest care for residents.


Other responsibilities for this role will include (but are not limited to):

  • Overseeing the delivery of high quality, best practice care to and services residents, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards, ensuring the welfare and safety of residents, visitors and staff;
  • Monitoring and managing the financial performance of the facility in accordance with Council’s annual budget to maintain a viable and sustainable service through timely management of resident admissions, lodgement and reconciliation of Medicare claims and participation in the ACFI validation process as required; and
  • Providing effective leadership, mentoring and support to direct reports to foster an empowered, positive culture, meeting the expectations of the facilities corporate values and good governance.
