Library Team Leader - Children and Youth Services

  • Band 5: $67,364 (pro rata) plus 9.5% Super
  • 6 months term position, part -time (28 hours per week)
  • Work across five branches of the Port Phillip Library Service

About the Organisation

The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more.  

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a library team leader to provide team leadership, support new initiatives and contribute to quality service and program delivery at the Port Phillip Library Service, within the Cultural and Economic Development Department.

This is a maximum-term position for six months and will suit a person who is resilient, energetic and flexible, with enthusiasm for working with our library users in a lively team environment, and who has the proven skills and experience in leading high-functioning customer service teams.

Note: Rostered weekends and a weekly evening shift.

Skills and Experience

  • Enthusiastic about connecting with children, young people and parents/carers as part of a dynamic children’s and youth team across the five branches of the Port Phillip Library Service.
  • A relevant professional qualification or equivalent proven experience.
  • Familiarity with the development of children’s and teen collections, including emerging digital resources, the design and the running of programs, reader development and the delivery of services for children, young people and parents/carers.
