We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and highly motivated Statutory Planning Coordinator to join Council's high performing Planning Services Department.
Reporting to the Manager Planning Services, this position plays a key leadership role to drive the delivery of a customer focussed, timely and professional statutory planning service with a strong culture of staff and community engagement and continuous improvement and innovation.
You will be responsible for:
- Effective leadership with a positive impact on culture, change and service performance
- An engaged and productive team created through a focus on performance and team development
- Delivering a planning service focussed on strong customer experience and assisting in the development of a service with systems and tools to meet the customer's needs
- Outstanding customer and stakeholder outcomes achieved through effective stakeholder engagement and a collaborative one-team approach
- Ensuring planning applications are determined in accordance with the relevant legislative and policy framework, with a focus on quality and rigorous evidenced based decision-making
- An industry leading effective and efficient service, delivered through a continuous improvement culture, effective business processes and creative thinking and innovation.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A qualification to degree level in Urban Planning or a related discipline
- Experience in working in a senior role as a statutory planner, and demonstrated leadership experience and communication skills with the ability to motivate staff
- Detailed knowledge of statutory planning requirements and procedures, and highly developed skills in communication and negotiation of planning matters
- A strong focus on customer experience, achieving a team culture of strong customer experience and continuous improvement in service delivery
- Experience and skills in developing and documenting continuous improvement systems and processes in the context of service delivery of a planning unit
