Leading Hand Horticulture



Mackay Regional Council has an opportunity for an experienced Leading Hand Horticulture to join our Parks, Environment and Sustainability team.


The position is responsible for daily supervision of a small team undertaking gardening and grass maintenance and other general maintenance duties on a scheduled or as directed basis.


The successful applicant will have the following knowledge and skills:

  • Current QLD ‘C‘ Class Drivers Licence
  • Current General Construction Safety White Card
  • Proven experience in supervising small work crews
  • Demonstrated understanding of a range of horticultural principles and practices
  • Current QLD Medium Rigid ‘MR’ Class Licence or ability to obtain
  • Horticultural Trade Qualification Certificate III or a similar related qualification (highly regarded)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the operation and maintenance of tractor/slasher and/or similar and small plant and equipment


In return for your valued contribution you will be rewarded with;

  • Annual base salary range from $52,418 - $53,551 plus allowances as applicable
  • Up to 18% superannuation (conditions apply)
