The Metro Greenspace Project Officer will coordinate the delivery of a spatial framework for three priority green grid corridors within the Canterbury- Bankstown and Strathfield local government areas, including the Cooks River, Wolli Creek Regional Park, and the Bankstown to Sydenham Open Space Corridors.
The position will support the long term vision of the Greater Sydney Green Grid; keeping the region cool, encouraging healthy lifestyles, supporting walking and cycling, providing better access to open spaces, enhancing bushland and supporting ecological resilience.
This role will be offered on Temporary Full Time basis – 12 month duration.
Some of your duties in this role will include:
- Engage and manage consultants to deliver relevant studies, including completion of context analysis, strategic intent, a spatial framework, and implementation strategies for the identified open space corridors within the funding timeframes
- Identify opportunities to capitalise on strategic work outlined in other Council strategies
- Provide advice and recommendations to management on strategic issues and opportunities within the identified open space corridors.
- Act as the key contact with the Department of Planning and Environment for reporting on the Metropolitan Greenspace funding and Technical Working groups.
- Support the activities of the City Plan unit.

The successful applicant will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in either urban planning, social policy, environmental planning, project management or related discipline and/ or relevant experience.
- A high level of written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in project management/ managing consultants
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions and use judgement/ problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organise own time to meet project outcomes.
